Roy Keane has wasted no time in making his feelings known following the return of Michael Carrick to Manchester United. While the club’s former captain has been appointed as interim manager following the exit of Ruben Amorim, Keane chose to revisit a long-standing personal grievance.
The tension dates back to 2014, when Carrick’s wife, Lisa, hit out at Keane on social media after he criticized her husband’s performance in a Champions League match against Olympiacos. Though over a decade has passed, Keane proved he still holds a grudge during the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast.

When Jamie Carragher asked if Carrick was the right man to lead the dressing room, Keane took a direct swipe at Lisa Carrick’s past involvement. He suggested that she might be the one handling the team talks and mockingly claimed she had a “big mouth.”
The comments have added a layer of unnecessary drama to what is already a high-pressure week for the club. Carrick is currently preparing for a massive Manchester Derby, his first test since taking the reins on an interim basis.

Keane also expressed skepticism regarding the broader coaching setup, which includes Jonny Evans and Jonathan Woodgate. While many fans are happy to see familiar faces back at Carrington, Keane’s remarks suggest that the “old boys’ club” atmosphere might not be what United needs to turn their season around.
